Grey Matter Disorders
Grey matter is a major component of the brain made up by the nerve cells, small blood vessels and supporting tissues. It constitutes the processing center involved in muscle control, sensory perception and speech. These disorders generally present with seizures, loss of understanding and movement abnormalities. Vision and hearing involvement may be present. They are generally inherited and may or may not be involved of other organs like liver and spleen. Diagnosis can be made by radiological and pathological tests. Few have definitive treatment, but medications provide symptomatic relief.
