Overview
Also known as dyspraxia, it affects the planning of movements and co-ordination due to defect in transmission of brain messages to the body. It is diagnosed once other neurological impairments like muscle or brain abnormalities are ruled out.
Treatment
Occupational therapy is helpful in these children.
Sensory Processing Disorders
This is a condition in which the brain has trouble receiving and responding to information that comes through different senses. Children with this condition can be oversensitive to things in the environment like loud sound, they may be uncoordinated, or may not engage in play. This disorder is commonly seen in developmental conditions like Autism.
Treatment is called sensory integration therapy and is generally provided by occupational therapists.
