Why EN1

While searching for the name we decided to combine E, N & 1 & randomly arranged them.

Why E ?

E signifies Epilepsy, EEG, Endocrinology, the fields with which I have been associated. It also represents 'Enable, Empower, Encourage, Empathize & Equalize' the attitudes most important in the field of Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD). Excellence, Expertise, Ethics and Evidence-based medicine. Our core philosophy.

Why N ?

N stands for everything in neurology & neuroscience - Neurology, Neurophysiology, Neurodisability, Neurorehabilitation, Neuropsychiatry & Neuroscience. It stands for New. A New approach to the old disorders.

Why 1 ?

EN1 has a rhythm. Also one means the first one & probably the only one.

And why only Neuro?

Why not Neurology? Because it is beyond neurology, maybe we can call it neuroscience, but neuroscience traditionally connotes science of emotions, behavior & learning. Our center offers extended services. So just 'neuro'!

What is EN1 really, does it have any meaning?

We googled it, and found the reference. It is the name of a gene - 'EN1 gene (protein coding) engrailed homeobox 1' (131290); ENGRAILED 1; EN1, HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: EN1, Cytogenetic location: 2q14.2 Genomic coordinates (GRCh37): 2:119,599,746 - 119,605,758 (from NCBI) Homeobox-containing genes are thought to have a role in controlling development.

The interesting fact is that the human engrailed homologs 1 and 2 encode homeodomain-containing proteins and have been implicated in the control of pattern formation during development of the central nervous system.
