ELECTRO-ENCEPHALOGRAPHY

Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a record of electrical activity of the brain. EEG is done by sticking electrodes to the scalp and seeing the electrical activity. An EEG helps in diagnosis of epilepsy. A sleep EEG recording is must for diagnosis of epilepsy. For obtaining a natural sleep record we often ask the patient to sleep less previous night. We give following instructions before EEG-

  • The hair must be clean, free of oil. Therefore hair must be washed with soap or shampoo before EEG.
  • The child must sleep for only 4-5 hours previous night & must not sleep during the travel to EEG center (to ensure a sleep deprived state).
  • No fasting is necessary.

We have a dedicated pediatric EEG lab which provides EEG testing for infants, children and adolescents.  We offer routine (30 min), short-term (2-4thours) and long term (12 hours) EEG studies for our patients.

EEGs are performed daily between 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. You can fix an appointment with the secretary on our regular contact number.
